NGO launches platform to help the girl-child build confidence and self discovery

With the overarching goal of helping the girl-child to build identity and purpose, an NGO, The Revival School, in collaboration with Unclesele and Nitche Entertainment, has launched a platform, Little Miss Rainbow, in pursuit of this noble goal.

“Little Miss Rainbow is a pageant that would help solidify your daughter’s identity by giving her a platform to safely express herself, build confidence and give her an opportunity to be a voice for her generation,” said Preere Opuofoni, Convener of Little Miss Rainbow at the launch of the platform in Lagos on Friday, August 25, 2023.

After a keenly contested exercise, Ms Vanessa Edet emerged as the Little Miss Rainbow 2023, to the applause of attendees at the well-attended event, which had as Judges Mr. Ben Aguoye, a business tycoon; Winfrey Agbelese, host of Wake Up Nigeria on TVC; and Izehi Anuge, a Values Coach and founder of Shape-A-Child NGO.

The event, themed ‘Embracing the Essence of Womanhood,’ aims at redressing the stereotyping of women in which they are gradually losing their identity.

This stems from the fact that men are the ones shaping narratives in almost all spheres of life, including depiction of the identity of women, a situation that denies women the freedom to define whom they are and find fulfilment.

“Changing this narrative, in a colourful and convincing manner, is something to be imbued in women from childhood. This underlines the launch of the Little Miss Rainbow platform,” Opuofoni added.

A rainbow symbolizes fascination, hope, and calm after the storm, a pot of gold and good fortune.

Like a famous epistle depicted: “A woman personifies ageless beauty, selfless love, purity, grace and dignity. She symbolizes virtue, great inner strength, tremendous patience, resilience and fortitude.

“She is the pillar of strength not only to her family but also to the society and the country as a whole. women are the backbone of a nation’s economy.”

A true woman should naturally embrace her femininity, regardless of status or circumstance in life, Opuofoni opined.

Little Miss Rainbow derives its essence from the mission of ‘The Revival School’ which was established

in 2022 as an all-volunteer school to build a community of believers/commissioned kingdom citizens, with the goal of helping others experience a deeper level of intimacy and trust in God by hosting the presence of the Holy Spirit.
