Roy Pentelow Fenton, a Briton, was the first Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor. He was the only expatriate to serve as CBN Governor. He served in that position for 5 years, from 24 July 1958 to 24 July 1963. CBN was established in 1958 and began operations on July 1, 1959.
